SparkFun RedBot Sensor Line Follower, The Line Follower sensor is an addon for your RedBot that gives your robot the ability to detect lines or nearby objects. The sensor works by detecting reflected light coming from its own infrared LED. By measuring the amount of reflected infrared light, it can detect transitions from light to dark (lines) or even objects directly in front of it., SSEN ...
This is an infrared sensor connected to a Sparkfun RedBot. A simple program is printing the sensor data out over the serial port.
Description: Knowing where your robot is can be very important! The RedBot Wheel Encoder allows you to track the number of revolutions each wheel has made. This sensor works by detecting the movement of small teeth connected to a motor through the reflection of infrared light.
The sensor works by detecting reflected light coming from its own infrared LED. By measuring the amount of reflected infrared light, it can detect transitions from light to dark (lines) or even objects directly in front of it. The sensor has a 3pin header which connects directly to the RedBot Mainboard via to jumper wires.

This sensor works by detecting the movement of small teeth connected to a motor through the reflection of infrared light. By measuring the amount of reflected infrared light you can tell not only how far each wheel has traveled but how fast the wheels are turning.
The encoder has a 6pin header which connects directly to the RedBot Mainboard via to jumper wires.
The IR Reflectance sensors work best when they are close to the surface below the RedBot. Using the 13/8" standoffs, the sensor should be about 1/8" above the table. This is an optimal distance for the IR transmitter to illuminate the surface below and measure the reflected light.
